For almost a year, Southbridge A&I has been helping the Guelmim-Oued Noun region to preparation of the Regional Development Program (PDR) 2022-2027 and executive implementation of the 2021-2023 program contract.
Adopted by the Regional Council on July 3, this RDP has followed an approach of co-construction, consultation and syndication involving all stakeholders and driving forces. This was achieved through a participatory and inclusive process - which mobilized almost 500 participants - guaranteeing adequate representation of the region's needs and aspirations.
The program is in line with previous planning and in convergence with the Kingdom's major strategies in terms of advanced regionalization. It crystallizes a vision of the region shaped around major lines of force and actions that will structure Guelmim-Oued Noun's accelerated socio-economic catch-up (opening up, connectivity, rural development and rehabilitation of urban centers), the transformation of its economic potential, a strengthening of its social components and social inclusion, and its positioning as a major hub for green hydrogen and the sustainable economy.
With a total budget of 11.9 billion dirhams (MMDH), and a regional contribution of 4 MMDH, the PDR comprises 28 projects, 50 programs and 18 support mechanisms in the blue economy, sustainable agriculture, ecotourism, education and health sectors, among others. Among the flagship projects are emergency programs for urban upgrading in the 4 provinces, a program to reinforce the road network, the development of 7 economic activity zones, the creation of a SSE competitiveness cluster, the establishment of a university cluster around the CHU and CMC and the creation of the “GON H2 Valley”.
