YOUSSEF TAZI MEZALEK, Founding Partner de SouthBridge A&Ispoke on Wednesday May 15 on the panel “Investing in a sustainable fisheries future” at the International Forum of the Fishing Industry in Morocco.
The opportunity to share experiences and innovative solutions to strengthen the sustainability of the fishing industry's performance, as well as the results of strategic studies carried out by Southbridge A&I for the FENIP .
The forum shed light on the Kingdom's true fishing resources and capacities. In a sector where sustainability also requires better value-added, Morocco's natural competitiveness, privileged positioning and favorable environment should enable it to carve out a major place among the world players in the sector.
Although the Moroccan seafood processing and freezing industries have experienced significant growth, supported by key players and strategic assets that position Morocco as a leading player, they remain far from the country's real potential. It is therefore necessary to consolidate and relaunch this dynamic within the framework of an assertive vision, backed up by specific tools (financing, services to the sector, training), underlying conditions and a strengthening of infrastructures and services.
The strategy elaborated by Southbridge A&I with FENIP is built around a broad, shared vision, medium-term visionary elements and precise objectives to position Morocco as an international hub for the processing and valorization of seafood products by 2027, with the ambition of tripling the added value of this industry.
During his intervention, YOUSSEF TAZI MEZALEK presented an outline of the vision and the fundamental measures to be implemented to sustainably exploit and add value to all seafood catches, while highlighting the numerous spin-offs and socio-economic stakes for the Kingdom.
