As part of the participation of SouthBridge A&I in the THE AFRICA CEO FORUM in Abidjan, Hassan Belkhayat, Founding Partner, moderated a high-level roundtable on Africa’s development as a central hub for green hydrogen production, bringing together a panel of experts and CEOs from various sectors.
This panel provided an opportunity to elevate discussions on the technological and economic maturity of green hydrogen production in Africa, the state of demand creation on the African continent and globally, the key components required in a Country Offer to attract investment in this sector, and the financing mechanisms for this energy revolution.
During the roundtable, the High-Level Champion for COP27 Climate Action, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, notably discussed the evolution of the global and international framework and the latest advancements in green hydrogen negotiations.
Nangula Nelulu Uaandja, Chairperson of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), outlined the scope of the offer and the interaction modalities with the private sector in Namibia. Meanwhile, Hicham El Habti, President of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, presented the initiatives of OCP Group to drive this energy transition, both in research and in the development of industrial projects.
Finally, Bruh Ayele Terfie, Africa President of Fortescue Future Industries, discussed the current state of technology, the ambitions and expectations of the private sector, and the role of research in developing this energy, presenting perspectives and expectations from other countries.
