Dr. UAKKAS Saad
Dr. Saad Uakkas is an expert in youth empowerment and engagement, specializing in health and climate issues. He served as Executive President of the African Youth Initiative for Climate Change (AYICC), where he mobilized, engaged, and connected over 500,000 young people from 50 countries in climate action initiatives. He also co-chaired the environmental working group of the Global Mental Health Action Network, was a member of the advisory board of the youth council at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, and collaborated with USAID to support youth-led climate projects in the MENA region. Dr. Uakkas coordinated the first-ever Children and Youth Pavilions at COP27 and COP28.
A multi-award winner and internationally recognized, Dr. Saad Uakkas is a TEDx speaker, international trainer, recipient of the prestigious Diana Award, One Young World Ambassador, UNESCO youth researcher, infodemic manager for the WHO, and Gates Foundation Goalkeeper. He is also a Chevening scholar, a Clinton Global Initiative Fellow, and has represented youth at over 100 international meetings. Dr. Uakkas has led more than 40 national and international campaigns and events, both in-person and online. For three years, he held leadership positions within the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA), coordinating global campaigns and the medical student response to COVID-19.
A graduate in medicine from Rabat and holding a Master’s in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Dr. Saad Uakkas is passionate about chess and table tennis.
